Booking

How do I book a car rental at Troisa?
You can book in 3 ways: 1) Online at troisa.tn — choose dates, vehicle and pickup location, confirm in 60 seconds, no card required. 2) WhatsApp at +216 22 205 450 — instant quote and confirmation. 3) Email contact@troisa.tn. You'll receive an email + WhatsApp confirmation immediately. No deposit required to book; payment is on pickup.
Can I cancel my Tunisia car rental booking for free?
Yes — Troisa offers free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup on all standard bookings. Cancellations within 48 hours are charged 1 day's rental as a fee. Pre-paid non-refundable rates (typically 10% cheaper) cannot be cancelled. No-shows forfeit the full deposit.
How far in advance should I book a rental car in Tunisia?
For April-June and September-October, 1-2 weeks ahead is fine. For July-August peak season, book 4-6 weeks ahead — the most popular SUV and 7-seater categories sell out. For specific vehicles like Mercedes E-Class or 9-seater minibuses, book at least 30 days ahead year-round. Last-minute (same-day) bookings work outside peak weekends but choice is limited.
Can I modify my booking after confirmation?
Yes, modifications (dates, pickup location, vehicle category, additional drivers, equipment) are free up to 24 hours before pickup, subject to availability. Just reply to your confirmation email or message us on WhatsApp. Price differences (up or down) are settled at pickup.
Do I need to pay anything to confirm my booking?
No — Troisa offers book now, pay on pickup as the default option. You confirm the reservation with your name, email, dates and vehicle, and pay only when you collect the car. Optional pre-paid rates are available with a 10% discount but are non-refundable.

Pricing & Payment

How much does it cost to rent a car in Tunisia?
Car rental in Tunisia at Troisa starts from 80 TND per day (about 25 EUR / 28 USD) for an economy car like the Hyundai i10 or Fiat Tipo. Compact cars start at 110 TND/day, SUVs from 180 TND/day, luxury vehicles from 300 TND/day, and 9-seater minibuses from 250 TND/day. Long-term rentals (7+ days) get up to 25% discount. All prices include unlimited mileage, basic insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance.
What payment methods does Troisa accept?
Troisa accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit cards, cash (TND, EUR, USD), and bank transfer. Online bookings can be paid in advance or on arrival. We do not require pre-payment to confirm a reservation — pay-on-pickup is the default option for most rentals.
How much is the security deposit?
Deposit varies by vehicle category: Economy and compact cars 500-800 TND, SUVs 1,000-1,500 TND, luxury cars 2,000-3,500 TND, vans/minibuses 1,500 TND. The deposit is pre-authorized (held, not charged) on a credit card and released within 7-14 business days after the car is returned undamaged. Cash deposits accepted in EUR, USD or TND.
Can I rent a car at Tunis airport without a credit card?
Yes — Troisa accepts cash deposits in EUR, USD or TND if you don't have a credit card, unlike most major rental chains. Debit cards are also accepted for both payment and deposit. We are one of the few Tunisia agencies that allows full cash bookings, popular with travelers without international credit cards.
Are there any hidden fees?
No hidden fees. The price you see at booking is what you pay, including VAT, basic insurance, unlimited km and 24/7 roadside assistance. Optional add-ons (Super Cover insurance, GPS, Wi-Fi, additional driver) are clearly listed during booking. Tolls (1.5-7 TND per segment), parking and fuel are paid directly by you while driving.
Does Troisa offer monthly long-term rental?
Yes — monthly long-term rental at Troisa starts at 1,500 TND/month for an economy car including all maintenance, oil changes, tire rotation, full insurance, replacement vehicle and 24/7 assistance. Ideal for digital nomads, expats, business assignments and extended stays. Discount scales: 7+ days 10% off, 14+ days 15% off, 30+ days 25% off.
What is the difference between TND, EUR and USD prices?
Troisa displays prices in Tunisian Dinar (TND, the local currency), Euro (EUR) and US Dollar (USD). Switch via the currency dropdown in the header. Final invoice and payment are always in TND at the official daily exchange rate; the EUR/USD prices are a guide based on real-time rates that refresh every 24 hours.

Driver Requirements

What is the minimum age to rent a car in Tunisia?
The minimum age is 21 years old, with at least 1 year of driving experience. Drivers under 25 may pay a young driver surcharge of 10 TND/day on certain vehicle categories. For luxury and premium SUV categories the minimum age is 25 with 3+ years of experience. There is no upper age limit at Troisa.
Do I need an international driving license?
If your driver's license is in English, French or Arabic (Latin alphabet), you do NOT need an International Driving Permit (IDP). Drivers from countries that issue licenses in other alphabets (Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic-only) should bring an IDP alongside their original license. EU, UK, US, Canadian, Australian and most African licenses are accepted as-is.
What documents do I need at pickup?
At pickup you must present: 1) valid driver's license held for at least 1 year, 2) valid passport or national ID card, 3) credit or debit card in the main driver's name for the deposit, 4) your booking confirmation. Additional drivers must present their license and ID. No proof of address or onward travel is required.
Can I add additional drivers?
Yes — you can add up to 2 additional drivers free of charge at Troisa. Each must meet the same age and license requirements as the main driver and present their original license and passport at pickup. This is a key advantage versus international chains that charge 7-15 EUR per day per extra driver.
My driver's license is digital — is that accepted?
Tunisian law requires the physical original driver's license. Digital licenses (mDL on phone, Apple Wallet, EU app) are NOT accepted at police checkpoints in Tunisia or for car rental sign-out. Always bring your physical card.

Insurance & Damage

Is car rental insurance included?
Yes — every Troisa car rental includes mandatory third-party liability insurance (RC), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP) by default. A standard excess applies to CDW/TP. For full peace of mind add Super Cover (zero excess) for 25 TND/day — it removes all deductibles for collision, theft, glass, tires and underbody damage.
What does Super Cover (zero excess) include?
Super Cover at 25 TND/day brings the excess to zero on: collision damage, theft, glass and windows, tires, wheels, mirrors, underbody damage, lost keys, and roadside assistance for non-mechanical issues. Not covered: driving under the influence, off-road in 2WD, damage caused by an unauthorized driver, or driving outside Tunisia.
What happens if I have an accident?
Step 1: Call the police on 197 to file an official report (constat amiable) — mandatory for any insurance claim. Step 2: Call Troisa's 24/7 emergency line at +216 22 205 450. We dispatch a replacement vehicle if the car is undriveable. With basic insurance you pay the excess; with Super Cover you pay zero. Tow assistance and repatriation included.
Does my credit card insurance cover Tunisia rentals?
Many Visa Gold/Platinum, Mastercard World/World Elite, and American Express cards include rental car insurance valid in Tunisia. Check with your bank for: territorial coverage (must list Tunisia), maximum days (usually 31), and the requirement to pay the rental in full with that card. Troisa happily provides the official invoice and damage report you need to make a claim.
What if a rock or sand damages the car in the desert?
Underbody, tire and sandstorm damage are covered only with Super Cover. Basic insurance excludes off-road damage. If you plan to drive Sahara routes (Douz, Ksar Ghilane, dunes), we strongly recommend a 4x4 SUV + Super Cover. Driving a 2WD car off-road voids all insurance.

Pickup & Airports

Can I pick up a rental car at Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN)?
Yes — Troisa offers free meet-and-greet pickup at Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN), Enfidha-Hammamet Airport (NBE) and Monastir Habib Bourguiba Airport (MIR) at any hour, 24/7. Our driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign, escorts you to the car, and completes paperwork on the spot — no shuttle bus needed. Flight tracking adjusts for delays at no extra charge.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track every flight in real time via your provided flight number. If your flight is delayed, the meet-and-greet driver waits at no additional cost — there's no waiting fee. Provide your flight number when booking and we handle the rest. If you miss your flight entirely, just call us at +216 22 205 450 to reschedule.
Where can I rent a car in Tunisia outside of airports?
Troisa offers free delivery to all major cities and tourist destinations: Tunis, La Marsa, Carthage, Gammarth, Hammamet, Yasmine Hammamet, Nabeul, Sousse, Port El Kantaoui, Monastir, Mahdia, Sfax, Djerba (Houmt Souk and Midoun), Tabarka, Tozeur and Douz. Hotel and Airbnb delivery is included free for rentals of 3+ days.
Does Troisa offer one-way rentals?
Yes — one-way rentals between major cities and airports are available. Pickup in Tunis and drop-off in Djerba, Tabarka, Sousse, Hammamet, Monastir, Tozeur or Enfidha is allowed for a one-way fee depending on distance (typically 50-150 TND). Cross-airport one-way is free between Tunis and Enfidha for rentals of 5+ days.
Does Troisa offer airport transfers separately from car rental?
Yes — fixed-price private airport transfers: Tunis Airport to downtown Tunis 35 TND, Tunis to Hammamet 120 TND, Enfidha to Sousse 80 TND, Monastir to Mahdia 70 TND, Djerba airport to any island hotel 35 TND. Includes meet-and-greet, flight tracking, English/French speaking driver and child seat on request.

Driving in Tunisia

Is Tunisia safe to drive in as a tourist?
Yes — Tunisia is safe for tourist drivers. The main highways (A1, A3, A4) are modern, well-paved and lightly trafficked. City driving in Tunis can be busy and aggressive, but coastal and southern routes are calm. Watch for occasional livestock on rural roads, police checkpoints (have your passport ready), and avoid driving at night outside cities due to limited lighting. Troisa provides a 24/7 emergency hotline in English and French.
What are the speed limits in Tunisia?
Tunisia speed limits: 50 km/h in towns, 90 km/h on rural and secondary roads, 110 km/h on dual carriageways and motorways (A1, A3, A4). Speed cameras are common on the A1 between Tunis and Sousse. Police can issue on-the-spot fines of 60 TND minimum, payable in cash.
Is there a toll system in Tunisia?
Yes — the A1 (Tunis-Sfax-Gabes), A3 (Tunis-Oued Zarga) and A4 (Tunis-Bizerte) are toll motorways. Tolls are inexpensive — typically 1.5-7 TND per segment, paid in cash at booths. Tunis-Sousse motorway costs around 4 TND total. Keep small bills handy.
Can I take a Troisa rental car across the border to Algeria, Libya or Morocco?
No — Troisa rental cars cannot be taken across any Tunisian border. Borders with Algeria and Libya are not permitted for rental vehicles due to insurance restrictions, and there is no direct land border with Morocco. Driving the car outside Tunisia voids all insurance coverage and is grounds for full deposit forfeiture.
Is parking easy in Tunisian cities?
Tunis city center has paid street parking (1-2 TND/hour, parking attendants in yellow vests) and several garages near Avenue Habib Bourguiba. Sousse, Hammamet and Djerba have free parking near most hotels and beaches. Medina (old town) areas of Tunis, Sousse and Sfax are pedestrian — park outside and walk in. Hotel parking is usually free for guests.
What fuel does the car use, and how much does it cost?
Most Troisa economy and compact cars run on petrol (unleaded 95); SUVs and minibuses are usually diesel. The fuel type is clearly written on the inside of the fuel cap. Prices (early 2026): petrol about 2.6 TND/L, diesel about 2.4 TND/L. Stations are abundant on highways and in cities; STIR, OiLibya, Total and Shell are the main networks.
Do I drive on the right or the left in Tunisia?
Tunisia drives on the right-hand side of the road, with steering wheels on the left, following continental European convention. Road signs are bilingual (Arabic and French). Roundabouts give priority to vehicles already inside the circle.

Vehicle Fleet

What types of cars does Troisa offer?
Troisa has 150+ vehicles across 6 categories: Economy (Hyundai i10, Fiat Tipo, Renault Symbol), Compact (VW Polo, Peugeot 208, Hyundai i20), SUV (Dacia Duster, Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Fortuner), Luxury (Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6), Van/Minibus (Renault Trafic, Mercedes Vito 9-seater), and Wedding cars (decorated luxury sedans and convertibles).
Are child seats and baby seats available?
Yes — Troisa offers free child safety equipment as part of our 'Child Safety Promotion': baby seats (0-13 kg), toddler seats (9-18 kg) and booster seats (15-36 kg). Just request when booking. We follow ECE R44/R129 European safety standards and clean every seat between rentals.
Can I rent an electric or hybrid car?
Yes — Troisa has hybrid Toyota Corolla and Yaris Cross models in our fleet. Fully-electric vehicles are limited because Tunisia's public charging network is still developing — currently best for short urban trips in Tunis and Sousse. We expect a wider EV fleet in 2026.
Do I get the exact car shown in the photo?
Like every car rental company, the photo represents the category, not a guaranteed exact model. You'll get the model shown or similar (same class, same passenger count, same trunk size, same gearbox). If you need a specific model, message us before booking — for many models we can guarantee the exact car.
Manual or automatic transmission?
Both are available. Most economy and compact cars in Tunisia are manual (cheaper). Automatic is available across all categories from compact upward — typically 15-25 TND/day more. SUVs, luxury cars and minibuses are mostly automatic. Filter by 'Automatic' on the fleet page.
Is mileage unlimited?
Yes — all Troisa car rentals come with unlimited kilometers as standard. Drive Tunis to Tozeur, Tabarka to Djerba, or any combination — no per-km charge and no daily km cap. Applies to economy, SUV, luxury and minibus categories.
What fuel policy does Troisa use?
Troisa uses the fair 'same-to-same' fuel policy: you receive the car with a specific fuel level (usually full or 3/4) and return it at the same level. NO mandatory pre-paid full tank fee. If you return with less fuel, you only pay for the difference at pump price + a small refueling fee of 10 TND.

Tours, Transfers & Travel

What private tours does Troisa offer?
Fully private tours with English-speaking driver-guide: All include private vehicle, fuel, tolls and parking.
What is the best season to rent a car in Tunisia?
Best seasons: April-June and September-October — temperatures 20-28°C, roads quiet, rates low. July-August is peak beach season with higher prices and crowded coastal towns. November-March is mild on the coast but very cold (and snowy) in the Atlas range and Sahara nights. Book 2-4 weeks ahead in summer to lock the best vehicles.
Can I drive into the Sahara desert?
You can drive a 2WD economy or compact car as far as Tozeur, Douz, Matmata and the Chott el Jerid salt flats on paved roads. To venture into off-road dunes (Erg, Ksar Ghilane, Sahara dunes camps) you need a 4x4 SUV — Troisa offers Toyota Land Cruiser, Fortuner and Duster 4x4 categories. Tell us your itinerary at booking and we'll match the right vehicle.
Can I rent a car for a wedding in Tunisia?
Yes — Troisa specializes in wedding car rental with flower-decorated luxury sedans (Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6) and convertibles. Packages include 4 hours with chauffeur, white floral arrangement, ribbon, champagne stand and complimentary water — from 350 TND. Same-day wedding emergency service available.
Is GPS or navigation included with the car?
Cars don't come with built-in GPS by default, but you can add a portable GPS unit for 5 TND/day. Most travelers simply use Google Maps, Waze or Maps.me on their phone — Tunisian mobile coverage is excellent on all main roads. Free Wi-Fi hotspot rental is available for 8 TND/day.
